I'm not going to take a nap!!!

Poor Jacob sometimes just refuses to take a nap, even when he is so stinkin' tired. Saturday the sweet boy pulled the "I'm not gonna" stunt, so we let it go (you gotta pick your battles sometimes) and went about our day. When it came time to get ready to go to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple tour (we got to go through early because Aaron works for the company that built it, and they let all the people who had a part in the building of the temple go through last Saturday. It was very awesome, and we got to go through with the group that included the architects, stone masons, and one of the muralists. But I digress...), Jacob got dressed, then promptly lay down in the hallway, pulled his blanket over his head, and fell asleep. It just made me laugh, I had to take a picture.

Macbeth #1

This year the 6th graders performed the play "MacBeth" for their end of the year production, and Jordan got one of the Macbeth roles. In order for everyone to have a part, they split up the roles - meaning there were 3 Macbeths, 3 sets of witches, 3 Lady Macbeths, 3 Banquos, 3 King Duncans... you get the idea. Jordan was Macbeth #1. He really enjoys being in front of people and had fun with the part. Now if I could only get him to tell me that he needs a costume sooner than the night before the dress rehearsal.
Jordan enters the stage, a worn and weary Macbeth back from battle, unaware of the 3 witches brewing up ahead...

King Duncan returns from the dead and gets revenge for Macbeth's murderous plot (OK, so this was after the play, but it was still pretty funny. ok, maybe you had to be there...)

After the play, we went out to eat - partly to celebrate Jordan's first starring role, and partly because his mom was late to the performance and she felt really bad about missing Jordan's entrance. (In my defense, if Jordan would have told me when the play was supposed to have begun, I wouldn't have been late!)
He did great, and didn't even have to "break a leg" to do it!

Let's hear it for warm weather!

And nights out in the backyard running around with nothing but shorts (or a diaper, depending on your age), and lunch in the back yard, and playing in the park, and turning on the hose and getting wet, and picnics with ice cream for dessert!

Summer... Bring it on!

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NASCAR 6.0, NFL 5.1 and Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,

Desperate.

DEAR DESPERATE,

First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.HTML and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1.

Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck!

(Disclaimer: I love my husband, and am so grateful I get to be his and all, but I thought this was pretty funny...)

Wait, when did he grow up???

OK, when did this happen??? He's not supposed to grow up this fast! Last week, my little boy turned 12. Do you realize I only have 6, maybe 7 years left of him being home??? I thought, this is not that big of a deal. Another birthday, another pokemon cake... But as he graduated from Primary, and received the Priesthood, I realized that he's really growing up. dude, where does the time go...?

The Apron

Last week I got a call to see if I could go into Zachary's classroom the next day and help the kids decorate an apron for their teacher for teacher appreciation week. Surely I can come up with something, I thought... Problem is, I'm just not a creative kind of a chick. I thought I could have them put handprints on it. But there wasn't enough room for 30 handprints, and it would have been oh so very messy. So then I thought, they could just sign their names. But where's the creativity in that? Remember, this is Utah, the mecca for creative women. The pressure is intense! I only had 25 minutes and really didn't want to make a mess. Finally, an idea: I could have the kids do thumbprint insects. You know, where you stick your thumb in ink, press it onto the fabric, and then draw the eyes/wings/legs/etc. I found a few instructions online, then had the kids do butterflies, ladybugs, spiders, caterpillars, frogs, bumblebees, and even had 2 dinosaurs and a mutant (there are a few free-thinking creative kids in the class!) It took a little longer to do it than I thought, but we finished before the bell rang. Here's the finished project:

Not too bad, and I think she liked it. Zachary said that she wore it all day yesterday!
